ILLINOIS — More than a dozen KFC locations across Illinois have recently closed, according to reports this week.
In Northern Illinois, two restaurants in Rockford, one in Machesney Park and one in Belvidere had shuttered, WTVO reported.
Further south, locations in Peoria, Bloomington, Washington, Pekin, Mattoon, Clinton and Bartonville had closed, according to WMBD. One restaurant in Champaign was closed as well, per the KFC website, as were locations in Morton and Pontiac, the Peoria Journal Star reported.
In the state capitol of Springfield, the Sixth Street location had closed, according to The State Journal-Register, which reported restaurants on West Jefferson and North Ninth streets were temporarily shuttered and it was unclear if they would reopen.
“We can confirm that some KFC locations in the area have closed,” parent company Yum told multiple outlets. “The decision to close a restaurant is always difficult for both the franchisee and the brand. We appreciate the patronage of our loyal guests.”
