Megan Overnell, who worked and was registered as a community practitioner nurse prescriber, agreed with the Nursing and Midwifery Council that she should be removed from the list after she admitted concerns about her practice.
The regulatory body received a referral raising concern about Megan Overnell’s fitness to practise on 20 March 2021. The outcome of the investigation, which was published shows poor record keeping and a failure to safeguard a vulnerable child was alleged.
The report states: “We investigated the issue and the case examiners found a case to answer. Undertakings were agreed by Megan Overnell.
“No allegation against Megan Overnell has yet been found substantively proved by one of our statutory committees, although she has admitted the concerns about her practice.
“On 3 June 2024, we received an application from Megan Overnell for agreed removal from the Nursing and Midwifery Council register.”
The investigation outcome also says that the regulatory body also tried to contact the person who made the allegation against the former nurse to get their comments on removing her from the register but no comments were received within a reasonable period.
The report adds: “I’m satisfied that: Megan Overnell no longer intends to work as a registered nurse, the allegations against Megan Overnell are not so serious as to be fundamentally incompatible with continued registration, there are no other good reasons requiring us to consider the allegations further at this time, the public interest is best served by agreeing to Megan Overnell’s removal from the register.
“This record of decision will be published for twelve months from the date of the decision, August 19, 2024. In the event that Megan Overnell seeks readmission to the Register, we may consider the matters that led to this agreed removal further.”
