PMSS CAPF & AR Scholarship Eligibility

For CAPF & Assam Rifles Personnel:

  • Service Eligibility: (i) Dependents and spouses of deceased personnel from CAPFs & AR who lost their lives while on duty or during election duty, dependents of members who incurred disabilities due to work-related reasons, and dependents of former CAPFs & AR members who have been acknowledged with Gallantry Awards. (ii) Dependents and widows of retired and active CAPFs & AR members (those holding ranks below Officer Level). Candidates must be undertaking their initial professional degree in areas such as Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Business Administration (BBA), Computer Applications (BCA), Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Science (B.Sc) in Nursing, Agriculture, etc., Masters in Business Administration (MBA), and Master in Computer Applications (MCA) in alignment with the established criteria.
  • Academic Requirements: Candidates must possess at least a 60% score in their Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ), including 12th Class/Diploma/Graduate degree or equivalent for new applicants. For those reapplying under the renewal category, maintaining a minimum of 50% each year of their ongoing professional studies is required.

Note: A one-year grace period is available for individuals experiencing delays in submitting their applications for scholarship renewal, subject to consideration.

For States/UTs Police Personnel:

  • Service Eligibility: Descendants of State/Union Territory Police Personnel who have tragically fallen in acts of Terrorism or Naxalite attacks qualify for this scheme under specific conditions, such as (i) Enrollment in their first professional degree course in areas including Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Business Administration, Computer Applications, Pharmacy, B.Sc. (covering Nursing, Agriculture, etc.), MBA, and MCA, all in line with established guidelines (ii) An extension of one year is allowed for applicants facing delays in the renewal of their scholarship applications, ensuring flexibility in exceptional circumstances.
  • Academic Requirements: To be eligible as a new candidate, one must achieve at least 60% in their Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ), which includes 12th grade, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or their equivalents. Those seeking to renew their application must complete every subsequent academic year of their ongoing professional studies, maintaining a minimum average of 50% in their marks.

Number of Seats in PMSS Scholarship

For each academic cycle, the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) will award 2000 new scholarships, alongside renewals from the prior year. These 2000 new scholarships are evenly divided among male and female candidates (1000 for each gender). The allocation of 1000 scholarships per gender is fixed and cannot be transferred between genders. For instance, if only 750 applications are received from male candidates, the unused 250 scholarships cannot be reallocated to female candidates. Starting from the academic session of 2019-20, an extra 500 scholarships will be provided for the children of State/UTs Police personnel who have lost their lives in Terror/Naxal attacks, with an equal split (250 each) between male and female wards.

PMSS Scholarship Amount & Duration

Duration: The scholarship can last for a maximum of five years, based on the course length the student is enrolled in, and subject to approval by the relevant authority.

Amount: Female students will receive Rs 3000 monthly. Male students will be awarded Rs 2500 each month. These amounts will be distributed annually following the selection process, with each eligible female student receiving Rs 30000 and each male student getting Rs 25000.

The following documents are required to apply for the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme For Central Armed Police Forces And Assam Rifles:

  • Service verification document issued by the Head of the Office for active personnel, as per the format in Annexure-A
  • Official certificate of enrollment from the academic institution
  • Details of the bank account
  • Officially verified digital copy of the academic record indicating Minimum Educational Qualification (such as 12th grade/diploma/undergraduate degree or its equivalent), which is essential. Additionally, if relevant:
    – Pension Payment Order/Release document/identification (where applicable)
    – Certificate indicating disability status (if needed)
    – Certificate of demise (if necessary)
    – Recognition of Bravery award (if applicable)

PMSS 2024-25 Important Dates

How to Apply for PMSS CAPF Scholarship?

Qualified candidates may proceed with their scholarship application through the steps outlined below:

  1. Select the ‘Apply Now’ option presented beneath on official website.
  2. Choose the ‘Register’ option and complete the registration form with the necessary details.
  3. On the navigation menu to the left, find and select the ‘Students’ section.
  4. Locate and press the ‘Login’ button below the OTR section, as this step is essential for applying for a scholarship via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  5. Identify and click on the ‘New user? Register Yourself’ link is located on the left side of the interface.
  6. Carefully review the instructions, agree by ticking the checkbox, and proceed by hitting the ‘Next’ button.
  7. Key in an active mobile number, the captcha, and the OTP received, then click submit to finalize the registration.
  8. Input all necessary information and select ‘Save & Register’ to finish the ‘One-time registration (OTR)’ sequence.
  9. Upon successful sign-up, navigate to and click on the ‘Apply for Scholarship’ section followed by the ‘Login’ button.
  10. Select the desired scholarship, provide all pertinent details, attach the required documents, and submit the application.

Note: All candidates should ensure that the information entered in the application form is accurate. Once submitted, modifications cannot be made. Moreover, submitting more than one application will lead to disqualification.
